What is a TG20 compliance sheet?
A TG20 compliance sheet is the document produced by the TG20 eGuide confirming that a specific scaffold configuration sits within NASC guidance. It is the evidence a scaffold did not need a bespoke design.
The sheet is generated for a particular arrangement, not for a scaffold in general. It records the configuration it covers — the dimensions, the loading, the tie arrangement and the cladding — and its usefulness depends entirely on the scaffold actually matching it.
It is the short answer to the question that starts most scaffold disputes: what was this built to. Held against the structure, it answers that in seconds. Held in an inbox, it answers it eventually or not at all.
A sheet describes a moment. The day the scaffold is adapted, the sheet may no longer describe what is standing, and somebody has to decide whether the change is still covered.
What goes wrong on site
- A sheet generated at quoting stage for the scaffold as designed, then the scaffold built differently on site.
- The sheet filed against the job rather than the structure, so a contract with eleven structures has eleven sheets nobody can match up.
- Adaptations during the hire with nobody going back to check whether the sheet still applies.
